Eating a healthy, well-balanced diet is one of the most important things you can do for your body. To optimize your health, I make personalized, evidence-based dietary recommendations that take into consideration your unique nutritional needs. I understand that making changes to your diet can sometimes be overwhelming, so I work within your comfort level to motivate and educate you so that changes are sustainable.
Herbal Medicine
Herbal medicine is the use of plant based medicines in the form of teas, tinctures or tablets that work with the body to balance normal physiology and support the body’s ability to heal. Herbs are the original forms of many pharmaceutical medicines and their benefits have been recorded for thousands of years. With the emergence of modern medicine, we have been able to further study many of these extraordinary plants. Based on research, we now know which conditions an herb is able to help with, the dosing strategies to use, the expected time to see improvement, and which laboratory tests measure these changes.
Supplements
Have you tried many supplements with little to no benefit? Using a google search or a friend to guide your supplement selection? Individualized supplements such as vitamin and mineral therapy are best recommended by someone with an extensive background in medicine and natural health. Using an evidence-based approach tailored to you, supplements are recommended to correct nutritional deficiencies so that you can experience their intended benefits.
Acupuncture
Using the principles of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) which originated in China over 5,000 years ago, acupuncture treatment aims to balance energy by inserting small needles at specified points in the body. The teachings of TCM acupuncture identify 12 meridians along the body that correspond to particular organ systems. When the flow of energy along a meridian is interrupted the disease process begins and symptoms start to manifest. Acupuncture restores the flow of energy and stimulates the body’s innate healing mechanisms. TCM based acupuncture is particularly beneficial at reducing stress, balancing hormones and promoting optimal fertility.
Lab Testing
When necessary, specialized lab tests can be to done to help get to the root cause of your health concerns. Stool tests, food sensitivity testing, hormonal and/or nutritional blood work provide valuable information that help guide future treatment recommendations.
