Hormonal Health

Hormonal Health in Hamilton, Stoney Creek, Burlington, and Nearby Areas

Hormonal balance is important for the proper functioning of the entire body. It not only impacts menstrual regularity, but also mood, energy, libido and metabolism. Let’s stop treating periods as something we dread each month! Many unwanted hormonal symptoms are common, but they are not normal.

As a Naturopathic Doctor, my goal is to educate and empower people to achieve healthy, balanced hormones and menstrual cycles. If you have monthly PMS or need to pop pain meds in order to function during your period, maybe it’s time to delve deeper into what is at the root of these symptoms!

Common concerns I work with:

  • PCOS
  • PMS
  • Endometriosis
  • Period cramps
  • Amenorrhea
  • Irregular cycles
  • Heavy menstrual flow
  • Low libido
  • Hormonal acne
  • Postpartum support

What can you expect from a visit?

We will discuss your menstrual history from your very first period to your current menstrual concerns. As a Naturopath, it’s also important to utilize a holistic approach when assessing your overall health. The digestive system, nervous system and endocrine (hormone) system are all connected and greatly influence one another. In some circumstances, lab testing will be beneficial in guiding our treatments or providing a diagnosis. The natural solutions I use for hormonal imbalance are usually focused on individualized nutrition and herbs.

Hormone Testing:

  • Cortisol Panel (salivary)
  • Basic Hormones (estradiol, FSH, LH, progesterone, testosterone, DHEA etc)
  • Thyroid Hormones

Why a healthy menstrual cycle is important.

Having a healthy menstrual cycle isn’t just important for people trying to conceive. Think of your menstrual cycles as a window into your overall health. Having regular ovulation with balanced follicular and luteal phases of your cycle allows your body to produce the proper hormones to function optimally. This is important to other areas of your health such as bone health, cravings/eating habits, weight and mood changes.
